I Need to Save My Marriage; Do You?

I never thought I would be saying that I need to save my marriage. After twenty years and two children, it was a shock to me to be on the receiving end of divorce papers. But as bad as that was, it was nothing compared to what followed - meeting my husband's younger lover. Forget painful. Forget embarrassing. Those twin events were neither painful nor embarrassing; they were majorly excruciating. Worse, even though I knew I needed to save my marriage, I didn't know where to begin.

My first thought was to try and use a lawyer to force my husband into realizing that I could create a financial nightmare, if he forced me to let go of him and our marriage. I have to admit, at that moment I wasn't really thrilled about trying to save my marriage. In fact, I wanted to hurt my husband in every way possible. Nevertheless, for the sake of our children, I felt I needed to at least try to do something to save my marriage.

As may be expected, my husband was not interested in going to marriage counseling; not while he was planning to marry his new girlfriend. When I heard this from him, it made me want to save my marriage even less. After all, how could I try to save my marriage when he obviously wants to bolt out of it?

One day I ran into an old friend, and realized she had been through the same thing only five years before. At the time, I was wondering why she was even bothering to try and save her marriage. In fact, I was secretly smug in the knowledge that my marriage would never get that bad.

When I blurted out that I needed to save my marriage, she told me not to give up. Times had gotten really bad for her and her husband. In fact, they were going through the pre-divorce separation process before she could even talk him into attending one small weekend marriage workshop. Slowly but surely, they began to work out their problems. She told me that if I wanted to save my marriage, I could do it. Regardless of how skeptical I felt, it was good to know that someone else had gone through the same thing. It was even better to hear that even the worst marriage situation can be turned around.

That very day, I went to the bookstore, and started looking for books that would help me save my marriage. A few looked interesting, but nothing seemed overly appealing. That night, I went home and started looking on the internet. I found an ebook called Save My Marriage Today. Somehow, I knew that was the book for me. Three years after reading that book, I'm pleased to say that I was most certainly able to save my marriage. We learned more than we ever dreamed possible about each other. Needless to say, his lover is gone, and there will never be another one in the picture again.
